The modes of fraud in cyberspace are now increasingly diverse. One of the modes that was widely reported in early August 2024 was fraud in the form of falsifying company and business contacts and addresses on Google Maps.
The perpetrators of these frauds usually add fake WhatsApp contact numbers on the business profile page, which are used to commit fraud or scam people who contact them by acting as if they were the company's customer service.
In this fraud mode, perpetrators may ask for personal data and banking information from customers, such as usernames, passwords, and transaction pins.
